Built for the big screen

We're know for crafting quality homes across New Zealand, but our work doesn't stop there. While our focus is residential, our team has also been trusted to deliver precision and detail on projects designed for the big screen.

Explore our featured work below - and see if you can spot our craftmanship next time you're watching.

Yogi Bear - 2009

One of our favourites! The Yogi Bears Ranger's station we had the privilege of building in 2009. This unique structure, now a tourist attraction, is located in Mamaku, about 20 minutes from Rotorua, New Zealand. After filming it got its second life and was moved to Mamaku to become the base for rail cruising operations. The cabin was constructed as a replica of Yellowstone’s park ranger’s station, and it was used in the Yogi bear movie. A little slice of the woods built for the big screen.

Grand Designs - 2018

Monumental in style and elegance, one of our beautiful log home builds was featured on the television series Grand Designs in 2018.
This house was made for the spotlight. Located in Mount Ruapehu.

Mulan - 2020

Safe to say, this one had main character energy. Not your average jobsite we really raised the bar (and the beams on this one). We built Mulan's village and other various parts of the movie. Ancient style, modern skills!

The setting of Mulan’s quaint hometown is inspired by the incredible doughnut-shaped Hakka walled villages located in southern China. However these picturesque villages and interior courtyard scene was built and filmed in a studio in New Zealand.

Chief of War - 2025

One of those builds that proves every detail counts. Modest in size and structure compared to the set, mighty in style!

While Chief of War is rooted in Hawaiian history and Indigenous storytelling, the majority of production took place in New Zealand, where locations, studios, crews and creative talent supported the delivery of one of the most ambitious television series ever produced.
